Salem CERT HAM Net
Do you have a ham radio license? Whether you're a member ofthe Salem CERT, another CERT team, or not a CERT member at all, we invite you to join our monthly radio check-in! This is a great chance to practice your radio skills and connect with other operators.
The next check-in is scheduled for the First Sunday of each month, at 4:30 PM. We will be operating on the frequency of 146.580 Mhz (simplex).
A Net Control Operator will be running the session, so please remember to wait for instructions before transmitting. This helps to ensure a smooth and orderly check-in for everyone.
While not required, it is hoped that many of the check-ins will take place from your assigned cache, using the ham radio in the cache when possible.

West Salem Bi-Monthly(ish) Team Meeting
When: Saturday, May 16th | 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Where: Roth’s Event Center (the secret lair behind the Roth’s at 1130 Wallace Road NW).
Pro Tip: If you’re coming along Wallace, turn up Glen Creek past the store and pull into the first parking lot on your left. Look for the "Roth's Event Center" sign, if you find yourself in the produce aisle, you've gone too far.
We have another full agenda planned for this one:
- Welcome & Calendar Review: A quick look at what’s coming up, including the annual "Cookies and Cache" events. (The cookies are for morale; the cache is for readiness)
- Show and Tell: If you have a piece of gear, a tip to show the group, or just some information you’d like to share, we’d love to hear from you.
- The Main Event: Bonnie Sims of Salemtowne will be leading a review of field triage and first aid. The will be some skills practice with this as well.
- But Wait, There’s More: A sneak peek preview of the upcoming May 30^th deployment exercise.
- Q&A: We’ll wrap up with time for questions and any final thoughts.
As always, these meetings aren't just for CERT members, they’re open to the whole community. Feel free to bring a friend, a neighbor, or anyone interested in being a little better prepared.

In this session, we'll cover how CERT members communicate when phone and internet service are disrupted. This will be useful information for our scheduled radio check activity on July 18.

CERT Deployment Exercise
Our next semi-annual deployment exercise, this is a save the date notice, more details to follow.

When: Saturday, May 30th | 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Where: Salemtowne Cache
This is where we get to put our skills to the test and practice exactly what we would be doing during an actual deployment in response to a major earthquake, it's the closest we can get to the real thing without actually shaking the ground.
If you plan to attend, we’d appreciate it if you could sign up using the Individual Registration Form so we can get an accurate headcount for our planning.
That said, walk-ins are always welcome, and you don’t have to commit to the entire afternoon. You are more than welcome to come and go as your schedule permits; we’re just happy to have you there for whatever time you can spare.
