{"id":345,"date":"2025-11-28T09:07:43","date_gmt":"2025-11-28T17:07:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/salemoregoncert.org\/?page_id=345"},"modified":"2025-12-07T19:32:36","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T03:32:36","slug":"communications-team","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/salemoregoncert.org\/index.php\/communications-team\/","title":{"rendered":"Communications Team"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p>The Salem CERT Communications Sub-Team exists to <strong>ensure effective, resilient, and redundant communication<\/strong> for the Salem CERT program, its members, and the wider community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sub-Team is responsible for developing, documenting, and maintaining all essential communications infrastructure and outreach.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Primary Functions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The team fulfills this mission through the following key functions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Communications Planning &amp; Resilience:<\/strong> Developing a comprehensive CERT Communications Plan, including the integration of <strong>Amateur Radio (Ham)<\/strong> for traffic between local team staging areas and the City Emergency Operations Center (EOC), managing <strong>GMRS\/FRS<\/strong> communications, and continually researching alternative technologies for viability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Training &amp; Readiness:<\/strong> Designing and implementing training programs that support the Communications Plan, including regular <strong>practice sessions for passing emergency traffic<\/strong> and comprehensive testing of communication systems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Digital Presence:<\/strong> Developing and maintaining the <strong>SalemOregonCERT.org website<\/strong> as the primary digital resource for Salem CERT.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Community Outreach:<\/strong> Producing and distributing a regular <strong>newsletter<\/strong> that covers CERT activities while appealing to a wider audience with engaging, general preparedness topics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Team Roster<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Team Lead:<\/strong> Mark Wardell<br><strong>Assistants:<\/strong> Paul Howard, Lola Hackett, Wayne Floyd<br><strong>Members:<\/strong> Lee Cowan, Duncan Beevers, Rogene Talento<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reference Documents<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You will find additional resources for Salem CERT over on our <a href=\"https:\/\/salemoregoncert.org\/index.php\/communications\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"356\">Communications Resources<\/a> page.
