The classes will be held on Thursday evenings, unless otherwise indicated; each class, except the final exercise, will begin at 6 p.m. and end by 9 p.m. The location for all classes will be the Training Room at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Salem+Fire+Department+Station+6\/@44.9137147,-123.0119647,1526m\/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x54bff8b433ddeba7:0x16dbfa95f807aaf8!8m2!3d44.9137109!4d-123.0093898!16s%2Fg%2F11bx1y19vs?entry=ttu&amp;g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDgyNS4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D\">Fire Station #6, 2740 25th Street SE, Salem<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The dates are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>September 10, 17, and 24, 2026 (6 p.m. to 9 p.m.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>October 1, 8 and 15, 2026 (6 p.m. to 9 p.m.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Saturday, October 17, 2026 (8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.) \u2014 This final session includes a mock disaster drill followed by the class graduation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These classes are provided by the City of Salem CERT, under the auspices of the Salem Fire Department, and there is no charge to participate. To become certified, you must attend all classes in the series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Class Syllabus:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Week 1 &#8211; September 10th:<\/strong><br>Introductions<br>Definition of CERT<br>Why we prepare<br>Class Expectations<br>Types of Disasters<br>Emergencies, etc.<br>Disaster Psychology<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Week 2 <strong>&#8211; September 17th<\/strong>:<\/strong><br>Fire Safety<br>Hazmat<br>Turning Off Utilities<br>Radio Communications<br>Plus Terrorism\/Active Shooter Scenario<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Week 3 <strong>&#8211; September 24th<\/strong>:<\/strong><br>Disaster Medical, Part A<br>Bandaging<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Week 4 <strong>&#8211; October 1st<\/strong>:<\/strong><br>Disaster Medical, Part B<br>Backboard training<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Week 5 <strong><strong><strong>&#8211; October 8th<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><br>Urban Search and Rescue<br>Head to Toe Exam<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Week 6 <strong><strong>&#8211; October 15th<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/strong><br>Tabletop exercise<br>Plus anything we missed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Saturday<\/strong> <strong><strong>&#8211; October 17th<\/strong>:<\/strong><br>Mock Exercise, allowing you to practice the skills you have learned in a controlled environment.<br>Class Graduation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To enroll, please complete the three attached enrollment forms and return them electronically to Lola Hackett.
