A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes. Would you know what to do?
Salem CERT is proud to host a Stop the Bleed class. This hands-on training is designed for the general public and requires no prior medical experience. You will learn the three essential techniques to help save a life before professional first responders arrive on the scene.
What the Class Covers:
In this interactive session, you will learn and practice:
- Identifying Life-Threatening Bleeding: How to quickly recognize when a wound requires immediate intervention.
- Applying Direct Pressure: Using your hands and body weight to stop blood flow at the source.
- Wound Packing: Learning how to use gauze or cloth to fill deep wounds and provide internal pressure.
- Tourniquet Application: Mastery of the C-A-T (Combat Application Tourniquet) and how to apply it correctly to limbs to stop severe arterial bleeding.
