Guide to Radio Etiquette

Good radio etiquette, the “unwritten rules” of the airwaves, is essential for smooth, clear, and effective communication. Following these basics helps everyone on the channel hear what they need to hear, respect shared airtime, and ensures that critical information gets through when it matters most.

Salem CERT Ham Net

The next check-in is scheduled for the First Sunday of each month, at 4:30 PM. We will be operating on the frequency of 146.580 Mhz (simplex). A Net Control Operator will be running the session, so please remember to wait for instructions before transmitting. This helps to ensure a smooth and orderly check-in for everyone. While not required, it is hoped that many of the check-ins will take place from your local/assigned cache, using the ham radio in the cache when possible.

Attached here is the current Salem CERT check-in script and cache list for the net.

Communications Plan

Attached here is the current communications plan, or band plan, for Salem CERT. This will list the ham radio frequencies, and GMRS/FRS channels, assigned to for area and team.
