The Operations Team is tasked with defining and refining the essential procedures and command structure for Salem CERT’s response to an actual emergency. This team is focused on ensuring a swift, safe, and effective mobilization of all neighborhood and specialized CERT teams when an activation order is issued.
Primary Functions
To achieve continuous readiness and smooth execution, the team’s core responsibilities and projects include:
- Protocol Development: Developing and maintaining clear protocols for emergency mobilization, ensuring all volunteers understand their roles and reporting structure during a disaster.
- Strategy and Leadership: Continuously updating existing protocols and integrating changes through focused leadership training for all team leaders.
- Key Projects: Revising and simplifying the official activation protocol document and conducting regular, practical team leader training sessions.
- Execution Tasks: Editing and distributing protocol documents, organizing and conducting necessary training, and executing simulated deployments to test readiness under pressure.
This dedicated focus on streamlined operations and leadership ensures that Salem CERT can transition from standby to action seamlessly and efficiently when the community needs it most.
